Trio Industrial Electronics interim loss deepens on revenue slide; dividend raised

Bulletin Express09-17

Trio Industrial Electronics Group reported a HK$337.45 million turnover for the six months to 30 June 2026, down 16.6% year-on-year. Gross profit slipped 14.9% to HK$64.74 million, yet gross margin edged up to 19.2% from 18.8%.

The manufacturer logged a HK$20.45 million loss attributable to shareholders, widening 38.6% from the HK$14.76 million deficit a year earlier. Basic and diluted loss per share increased to 2.05 HK cents from 1.48 HK cents.

A higher interim dividend of 0.8 HK cent per share was declared, versus 0.6 HK cent last year, payable on 22 October 2026 to shareholders on record as of 30 September 2026.

Total assets rose 3.8% to HK$675.30 million, but net assets fell 5.9% to HK$345.32 million after total liabilities expanded 16.3% to HK$329.99 million. The current ratio slipped to 2.2 from 2.7 at year-end 2025, and net cash remained positive with HK$126.02 million in cash and equivalents against HK$38.25 million in borrowings.

Europe remained the dominant market, contributing 74.5% of sales, yet regional revenue declined 26.6%. North America, the PRC (including Hong Kong) and other regions showed growth, partially offsetting the shortfall. Product-wise, smart vending systems and electro-mechanical products contracted sharply, while switch-mode power supplies and smart chargers posted double-digit gains.

Management cited cautious customer procurement amid higher global interest rates and geopolitical tensions for the weaker EMS demand, but noted continued investment in a “Stations as Media, Media Empowers Energy” strategy to expand new-energy charging and advertising platforms in Central and Southeast Asia.

Capital expenditure commitments stood at HK$1.78 million, and undrawn banking facilities totalled HK$157.66 million at period end.
