Subsequently, the company exercised options on October 31, 2025, and January 30, 2026 (this instance), to order two additional ships each time. According to the announcement, these eight newbuild vessels will be delivered in batches: the vessel under the fifth shipbuilding contract is expected to be delivered on or before September 30, 2028; the vessel under the sixth shipbuilding contract is expected to be delivered on or before November 30, 2028; the vessel under the seventh shipbuilding contract is expected to be delivered on or before November 30, 2028; and the vessel under the eighth shipbuilding contract is expected to be delivered on or before March 31, 2029. SITC stated that this new ship order aims to expand the scale of its owned fleet to meet the growing demands of the group's business operations and to consolidate its leading position in the intra-Asia shipping market. According to the latest data from Alphaliner, SITC operates a total of 120 container ships, of which 100 are owned. As of June 30, 2025, SITC ranked 14th among the top 100 global liner companies, with a capacity of 186,273 TEU.
