Market Wrap: ChiNext and Shenzhen Indices Gain Over 1%, STAR 50 Surges 4.69% on Strength in PCB and Semiconductor Sectors

The stock market opened lower but closed higher today. The Shanghai Composite Index rose by 0.4%, while the ChiNext and Shenzhen Component indices both climbed more than 1%. The STAR 50 Index surged 4.69%.

Market breadth was negative, with over 3,700 stocks declining across the board.

Key Sectors and Movers

The Printed Circuit Board (PCB) sector saw a significant rally, with more than ten constituent stocks hitting their daily limit-up. Hongchang Electronics marked its fifth limit-up in seven sessions, while Huazheng New Material secured its third consecutive limit-up. Shennan Circuits also reached the limit-up, with its share price hitting a new all-time high.

Activity was strong across the semiconductor industry chain. The memory chip and semiconductor equipment segments led gains. Shengmei Shanghai, Xiangnong Xinchuang, and Puran Shares all surged by the 20% daily limit. Yaxiang Integration and Zhaoyi Innovation also hit the 10% limit-up.

The glass substrate concept continued its strong performance. Qibin Group achieved its third straight limit-up, while BOE A and Rainbow Shares also rose by the daily limit.

The supercapacitor concept experienced a sharp intraday rally. Haixing Shares notched its third consecutive limit-up, with Aihua Group and Tongfeng Electronics also reaching the limit-up.

On the downside, the coal sector underwent a correction, with Yunmei Energy, Dayou Energy, and Baotailong all experiencing declines.
