Deep News10-28

Core indicators accelerated upward, and the building of a model zone for new quality productive forces and a world-class high-end comprehensive industrial new city delivered remarkable results.

On October 26, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area released its economic performance for the first three quarters of 2026. Data showed that in the first three quarters, the gross domestic product (GDP) of E-Town New City reached 307.24 billion yuan, up 7.3% year on year; industrial value added rose 10.1% year on year; total industrial output value reached 557.87 billion yuan, up 8.0% year on year; and fixed asset investment grew 10.1% year on year.

Strong Industrial Growth as Leading Sectors Unleash New Quality Momentum

Industry is the foundation of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area's standing and strength. In the first three quarters, the area's industrial segment showed strong growth momentum, with the growth rate of industrial value added exceeding the overall GDP growth rate, while total industrial output value also achieved steady growth.

This development trend of "rising in both quantity and quality" not only highlights the driving role of industry as the core engine of regional economic development, but also conveys the notable results of the area's high-precision and advanced industries in upgrading quality and efficiency.

By industry, leading sectors continued to shoulder the main burden. Among them, the next-generation information technology industry's output value growth rate reached 57.3% in the first three quarters, and the robotics and intelligent manufacturing industry's output value growth rate reached 14.2%.

Behind the impressive data is the persistence of enterprises in independent innovation and tackling core technologies, continuously raising the "gold content" of the industries. Semidrive Technology's cumulative shipments of its full series of automotive-grade chips exceeded 15 million units, covering more than 90% of domestic OEMs and some mainstream international automakers; Xinghaitu signed a three-year strategic cooperation agreement with JD.com to jointly explore large-scale application of embodied intelligent robots in real industrial scenarios.

Overall, intelligentization has become a distinctive feature of the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area's industrial development. Frontier technologies such as artificial intelligence are continuously transforming into regional economic increments, and new quality productive forces are accelerating their release.

Expanded and Accelerated Fixed Investment as Project Landings Strengthen Development Momentum

In the first three quarters, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area adhered to expanding effective investment as a key lever for stabilizing growth, adjusting structure, and enhancing momentum. Fixed asset investment grew 10.1% year on year, with effective investment accounting for more than 90%.

The investment structure reflects the future development pattern. The landing and construction of a number of key industrial, livelihood, and infrastructure projects are accumulating sufficient momentum for the area's future development.

Focusing on the regional development positioning and industrial layout plan, since the beginning of this year, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area has promoted the accelerated landing and construction of a number of projects that extend, supplement, and strengthen the industrial chain around strategic emerging industries and future industries. From the completion and use of the new base of the SMC China Technology R&D Center to the large-scale production of the Lingyi iTech Beijing factory, and then to the start of construction of multiple new projects including R&D and transformation at the International Pharmaceutical Innovation Park (BioPark), key industrial projects are constantly refreshing their "progress bars" and building future competitive advantages.

Around the improvement of urban functional quality, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area has orderly advanced the construction of livelihood infrastructure projects such as the Beijing Normal University Affiliated Middle School E-Town School and the new campus of Beijing Children's Hospital, further enhancing the region's comprehensive carrying capacity.

The orderly advancement of key projects is inseparable from the full-cycle support and guarantee system built by the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area. Not long ago, the Hangyu Zhizao Global R&D Center and Intelligent Manufacturing Base, one of Beijing's "3 100" key projects in 2026, started construction. During project advancement, the area provided forward-looking services and efficient approval. After land acquisition, project filing was completed within 2 hours, and the planning permit and construction permit were processed within one working day, helping the enterprise successfully achieve "start construction upon land acquisition."

Coordinated Service Industry Empowerment Creates an Environment Favorable for Business and Living

The service industry is an important focus for the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area in promoting industrial structure optimization and upgrading and building a modern industrial system. In the first three quarters, the area's service industry improved in multiple areas, showing a good pattern in which producer services empower industrial upgrading and consumer services improve urban functions, shaping a city quality that is favorable for business and living.

In producer services, from January to August, operating revenue in scientific research and technical services grew 3.4% year on year, operating revenue in information transmission, software, and information technology services grew 3.3% year on year, and operating revenue in leasing and business services grew 7.1% year on year, providing strong support for the leap in manufacturing capacity.

In consumer services, from January to August, operating revenue in culture, sports, and entertainment grew 7.9% year on year, driving the continuous improvement of urban living facilities and attracting high-quality talent to settle down.

Future Industries Gather Momentum to Take Off and Open New Growth Tracks

In the first three quarters, future industries became a key increment for the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area's economic development. In tracks such as commercial aerospace, fusion energy, and new materials, a number of leading innovation achievements and industrialization projects accelerated their landing, shaping long-term competitive advantages.

Taking commercial aerospace as an example, so far this year, "E-Town rockets" have successfully launched 27 times, exceeding one-third of China's total rocket launches this year and surpassing the total number of "E-Town rocket" launches in 2025. Twenty-nine "E-Town satellites," including the "Xiong'an-1" internet technology verification satellite, successfully entered orbit.

Among these, breakthroughs of "world first" and "China first" provide important support for building China into a space power. On July 10, the Long March 10B carrier rocket, developed under the overall leadership of the China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology and invested in by Beijing E-Town enterprise China Great Wall Industry Corporation, achieved the world's first sea-based net recovery of a carrier rocket. This rocket became China's first reusable carrier rocket to successfully implement recovery.

Just over a month later, on August 19, the Zhuque-3 reusable Yaо-2 carrier rocket, independently developed by Beijing E-Town enterprise LandSpace, achieved China's first recovery of a carrier rocket's first stage using landing legs. Consecutive successful recoveries made China the first country in the world to master both rocket net recovery and landing-leg recovery dual-path reuse technologies.

At the same time, since the beginning of this year, 29 "E-Town satellites," including the "Xiong'an-1" internet technology verification satellite, the Lingzhi-09 Thailand cubesat, the Guangchuan-03 and 04 satellites, and the Power Infrared Satellite, have successively entered orbit, creating pioneering results such as the first "Xiong'an-made" satellite, China's first export of a commercial satellite to Southeast Asia, and China's first commercial infrared satellite.

The accelerated rise of forward-looking tracks is inseparable from a systematic and complete mechanism guarantee system. For a long time, the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area has continued to improve its financial guarantee mechanism and built a government investment guidance fund system covering the entire growth cycle of enterprises, leveraging social capital to continuously invest in hard-tech enterprises. It has also supported multiple tools such as loan interest subsidies, listing support, co-insurance bodies, and intellectual property pledge financing, providing full-cycle capital escort for frontier technology breakthroughs.

At the same time, it has issued special policies such as the city's first new materials industry special policy, the "New Materials 12 Measures," and accelerated the construction of carriers such as Beijing Rocket Street, the "Quantum Constellation" industrial community, and the 6G SPACES new quality ecological community, allowing future industries to gradually grow from "potential tracks" into new growth poles supporting the region's continued economic improvement.

The impressive report card for the first three quarters has laid a solid foundation for the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area to complete its annual economic development targets and tasks and to achieve high-quality development during the "15th Five-Year Plan" period. A relevant responsible person from the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area said that next, the area will continue to consolidate and strengthen the basic foundation of the real economy, accelerate the construction of key industrial projects and the release of investment, continuously optimize the business environment, and use more pragmatic measures to stabilize growth, promote investment, and improve services, making every effort to win the fourth-quarter final battle and promote the full-year economic and social development to achieve qualitative improvement and reasonable quantitative growth.
