Hong Kong Stocks Open Higher: Hang Seng Index Up 0.21%, Healthcare and Tech Shares Advance, Lenovo Group (00992) Jumps Over 5%

The Hang Seng Index opened 0.21% higher at 23,260.14 points on October 27, according to market data.

The Hang Seng Tech Index gained 0.74% to 3,886.18 points, while the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index rose 0.18% to 7,816.49 points. The Hang Seng China-Affiliated Corporations Index edged up 0.09% to 3,889.69 points.

Healthcare and information technology stocks led the gains, with the Hang Seng Healthcare Index rising 0.90% and the Hang Seng Information Technology Index climbing 0.73%, ranking among the top two performers among the 12 Hang Seng sector indices.

Among Hang Seng Index constituents, the top three gainers were Lenovo Group Ltd (ASX: 00992) up 5.34%, WuXi AppTec (02359) up 4.99%, and Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347) up 4.12%. For the Hang Seng Tech Index, the top three gainers were Lenovo Group Ltd (00992) up 5.34%, Hua Hong Semiconductor (01347) up 4.12%, and Zhipu (02513) up 4.06%.

WuXi AppTec reported revenue of 45.54 billion yuan for the first three quarters, up 38.6% year-on-year, with net profit of 19.161 billion yuan, up 62.36% year-on-year. The company raised its full-year revenue guidance from 58.5-60.5 billion yuan to 61-61.9 billion yuan.

On the downside, the Hang Seng Energy Index fell 0.22%, the Hang Seng Financials Index dropped 0.18%, and the Hang Seng Utilities Index declined 0.14%, the only three decliners among the 12 Hang Seng sector indices. Among Hang Seng Index constituents, the top three losers were Tingyi (Cayman Islands) Holding Corp (00322) down 1.54%, ZTO Express (Cayman) Inc-W (02057) down 1.33%, and Wharf Holdings Ltd (01997) down 1.16%. For the Hang Seng Tech Index, the top three decliners were JD Health International Inc (06618) down 1.12%, Zhejiang Leapmotor Technology Co Ltd (09863) down 0.96%, and Horizon Robotics-W (09660) down 0.78%.

Among the 95 Hang Seng Index constituents, 46 advanced, 32 declined, 16 opened flat, and one lacked an opening price. For the Hang Seng Tech Index constituents, 15 gained, 11 fell, and 4 opened unchanged.

Overnight, the three major U.S. indices closed higher collectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 0.28% to 52,361.58 points, the S&P 500 gained 0.70% to 7,676.77 points, and the Nasdaq Composite climbed 0.82% to 26,169.38 points. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index surged nearly 3%, while the Nasdaq Golden Dragon China Index advanced 0.63%.

In the previous trading session on October 26, the Hang Seng Index closed up 0.51% at 23,211.81 points, while the Hang Seng Tech Index fell 0.36% to 3,857.53 points.
