Tencent Holdings Surges Over 4% on WeChat's AI Developer Access Announcement

Stock News06-09

Shares of TENCENT (00700) are trading significantly higher, rising more than 4%.

At the time of writing, the stock is up 3.9% to HK$463.6, with a trading volume of HK$4.584 billion.

The price movement follows a recent announcement from the WeChat Open Platform regarding access for developers to its AI ecosystem.

On June 8, via the WeChat Open Class channel, the platform announced new capabilities to allow developers to integrate with the WeChat AI ecosystem, aiming to provide users with a more intelligent interactive experience.

This initiative is based on fully respecting developers' rights and their freedom of choice.

Developers are required to actively authorize access to WeChat AI capabilities through the 'Mini Program Management Backend - AI Capabilities' section.

The platform offers two distinct options to cater to the development needs of teams of varying scales.

For the automatic mode, developers authorize the platform to review and read the mini-program's source code during the submission process, requiring no additional development effort.

The platform will then analyze the mini-program's pages, enabling WeChat AI to operate directly within it.

For the development mode, developers can create personalized integrations based on their mini-program's specific business characteristics.

After passing the platform's evaluation and review process, these custom integrations become callable by WeChat AI.

The two modes are not mutually exclusive and can be enabled simultaneously.
