Japanese and South Korean Markets Open Lower, KOSPI Down 2.7%

Japan's Nikkei index opened lower by 0.8%, reaching 67,704.16 points, weighed down by declines in electronics and metal stocks.

The South Korean KOSPI index opened with a more significant drop of 2.7%, starting the trading day at 7,452.48 points.
