Hong Kong Appoints Baidu Founder Among Four New Chief Executive Advisors

The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced on March 24 the appointment of four new members to the Chief Executive's Advisory Board, including Baidu Group co-founder Robin Li. Their terms will be effective from April 1, 2026, until June 30, 2027. According to the advisory board membership list, all four newly appointed members belong to the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" group. They are Baidu Group co-founder, Chairman, and CEO Robin Li; Jiangsu Hengrui Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. Chairman Sun Piaoyang; StarFive Semiconductor Technologies Co., Ltd. founder and CEO Xu Tao; and Biren Technology founder, Chairman, and CEO Zhang Wen.

Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee stated that since its establishment in 2023, the advisory board has provided valuable and constructive advice on Hong Kong's strategic development. The newly appointed members are industry leaders in cutting-edge fields such as hard technology and life sciences. Their participation will further broaden the professional scope of the advisory board. He looks forward to the members continuing to offer insights on key issues, including how Hong Kong can consolidate and enhance its international competitiveness, better integrate into and serve the country's development, and deepen international exchanges and cooperation, particularly as Hong Kong proactively aligns with the national "15th Five-Year Plan," to create new prospects for high-quality development in Hong Kong.

The Hong Kong Chief Executive's Advisory Board is a high-level consultative body responsible for providing advice to the Chief Executive on Hong Kong's development strategies to help the city seize opportunities presented by national and global development. The board is divided into three focus areas: "High-Quality and Sustainable Economic Development," "Innovation and Entrepreneurship," and "Regional and Global Collaboration," to facilitate more focused and in-depth discussions among members. Current members of the "Innovation and Entrepreneurship" group also include Hangzhou Unitree Robotics Co., Ltd. founder Wang Xingxing and Zhejiang BrainCo Technology Co., Ltd. founder Han Bicheng.
