Ryan Specialty Group Holdings, Inc. (RYAN) shares surged 9.28% in after-hours trading on Thursday, following the release of its second-quarter 2026 financial results that significantly exceeded analyst expectations.
The specialty insurance firm reported adjusted earnings per share of $0.74, easily beating the consensus estimate of $0.60. Total revenue grew 7.2% year-over-year to $916.6 million, also surpassing the projected $873 million. The company attributed the strong top-line performance to a 6.7% organic revenue growth rate, driven by new client wins, robust renewal retention, and expanded relationships with existing clients. Growth was broad-based across most casualty lines, partially offset by a moderate decline in the property portfolio.
Adding to the positive sentiment, Ryan Specialty announced it had expanded its share repurchase authorization by an additional $300 million. During the quarter, the company returned approximately $284.5 million to shareholders through $260 million in share buybacks and $24.5 million in dividends and distributions. The combination of better-than-expected earnings and a clear commitment to returning capital to shareholders fueled the sharp after-hours rally.
