At the 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) held in Shanghai from July 17 to 20, TENCENT officially launched the standalone app for its self-developed efficiency agent, WorkBuddy. The app is now available on iOS, Android, and HarmonyOS platforms simultaneously.
As the first general-purpose agent application to land on the HarmonyOS system, the WorkBuddy app offers most of the capabilities found in its desktop version. It also supports initiating tasks on a computer remotely from a mobile phone.
Similar to a mini-program, the WorkBuddy app supports two execution modes: connecting to a computer and working in the cloud. The cloud-based work mode provides key desktop functionalities, including Skills, experts and expert groups, automated scheduled tasks, downloading and sharing outputs, and project management. It also connects to TENCENT Docs and the ima knowledge base through its library capabilities.
In terms of interaction, the app supports various multimodal input methods, such as text input, voice dictation, photo uploads, local file imports, and imports from TENCENT Docs and ima. The HarmonyOS version of WorkBuddy delivers an experience fully consistent with the iOS and Android versions.
WorkBuddy is an efficiency agent developed by TENCENT for workplace professionals. Since its initial release in early March 2026, WorkBuddy has maintained a high-frequency update schedule to optimize user experience, earning recognition from numerous individual and enterprise users. According to TENCENT's Q1 2026 financial report, based on daily active user counts, WorkBuddy has become the most popular efficiency AI agent service in China.
