In an effort to address the current lack of standards in the field of space-based solar power within China, and to regulate technological research, testing, and engineering applications, a new working group is being formed. This initiative aims to promote the standardized, high-quality, and systematic development of the space-based solar power industry.
The primary responsibilities of the new Space-Based Solar Power Working Group have been outlined. The group is scheduled to be officially inaugurated during the 3rd High-Latitude Extreme Cold Test Environment Technology Forum, which is set to take place in Mohe, Heilongjiang province, from August 18 to 19, 2026.
At this event, the working group, operating under the CSTM/FC03/TC22 Solar Photovoltaic System Application Standardization Technical Committee, will hold its first official meeting. During the conference, appointment letters will be presented to the members of the working group. Attendees and experts will engage in in-depth discussions focused on the overarching design of the standard system and specific proposals.
