Hong Kong Stocks Open Mixed: Hang Seng Dips, Tech Index Rises, Gold Shares Decline

U.S. stocks retreated on Friday after an initial rise, with geopolitical tensions continuing to weigh on market sentiment. All three major indices closed lower. The U.S. dollar strengthened, while the yield on the 10-year U.S. Treasury note climbed to around 4.28%. Gold prices trended downward, whereas oil prices maintained their upward momentum.

Hong Kong's three major indices opened with mixed performance. The Hang Seng Index started down 0.12% at 25,436.27 points. The Hang Seng Tech Index rose 0.21%, and the Hang Seng China Enterprises Index gained 0.13%. Among sector performances, technology stocks were mixed: JD.com and Meituan rose over 1%, while Baidu fell more than 0.5%. The innovative drug sector showed active trading, with Rongchang Pharma climbing over 1%. Gold stocks broadly declined, led by Zijin Mining Group, which dropped more than 2%.
