Singapore Exchange reports six-year high in securities trading activity for Feb 2026

Singapore Exchange (S68) announced on Mar, 12 2026 that securities daily average value (SDAV) for Feb 2026 jumped 45% year-on-year to 2.1 billion Singapore dollars, its highest level since 2020. Total securities market turnover rose 30% to 38.5 billion Singapore dollars.

Derivatives daily average volume increased 22% year-on-year to 1.66 million contracts, with total derivatives volume up 6% to 27.1 million contracts despite fewer trading days during the Lunar New Year period.

Trading value in Straits Times Index constituents climbed 37% to 1.63 billion Singapore dollars, small- and mid-cap turnover surged 135%, and retail SDAV advanced 45% to a 13-year high. The Straits Times Index gained 2% month-on-month and 8% year-to-date, peaking at a record 5,041 points on Feb, 23 2026.

ETF turnover rose 172% to 1.1 billion Singapore dollars, supported by 643 million Singapore dollars of net inflows. Investments in ETFs via the Supplementary Retirement Scheme exceeded 1.0 billion Singapore dollars for the first time.

MSCI Singapore Index Futures daily average volume grew 25% month-on-month, lifting monthly volume to 1.0 million contracts and setting a record 49 billion Singapore dollars in notional value traded.

Combined notional value in FTSE Taiwan Index Futures and Micro FTSE Taiwan Index Futures expanded 170% year-on-year to 13.3 billion US dollars, with the full-sized contract reaching a single-day volume of 304,000 lots on Feb, 23 2026 and capturing 98% of international liquidity during Taiwan’s market closure.

FX futures also set new highs: USD/CNH daily average volume hit 24 billion US dollars with open interest of 27.1 billion US dollars, INR/USD recorded a single-day volume of 7 billion US dollars on Feb, 03 2026, KRW/USD Mini Futures daily average volume reached 713 million US dollars, and TWD/USD futures daily average volume rose to 378 million US dollars with open interest up 28% to 26 million US dollars.

Commodities trading volume increased 5% year-on-year to 5.28 million contracts, led by a 7% rise in iron-ore derivatives to 4.69 million contracts. Petrochemical contracts cleared 3 million metric tonnes, while Whole Milk Powder options posted a record single-day open interest of 44,185 lots on Feb, 27 2026.
