Continental Aerospace Technologies Holding Limited (CON AERO TECH, 00232) reported a sharp reversal in performance for the six months ended 30 June 2026, posting a net loss attributable to shareholders of HK$100.22 million versus a profit of HK$64.29 million a year earlier.
Revenue and Profitability • Revenue fell 5.4% year on year to HK$950.79 million, dragged by softer demand for aircraft engines and spare parts in Europe and “Other” regions, despite resilient U.S. sales. • Gross profit declined 16.1% to HK$216.25 million, compressing the gross margin to 22.8% from 25.6% in the prior-year period. • A HK$92.24 million provision related to the settlement of a U.S. Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loan, a HK$37.24 million remeasurement loss on assets held for sale, and a HK$15.67 million product service bulletin provision weighed on operating results. • Basic and diluted loss per share came in at HK1.08 cents (1H 2025: earnings per share of HK0.69 cent).
Balance Sheet and Liquidity • Total cash and time deposits stood at HK$925.91 million, representing 31.5% of current assets. • Current assets surged to HK$4.06 billion, largely due to reclassification of disposal group assets, while current liabilities rose to HK$1.12 billion. Net current assets expanded to HK$2.94 billion. • Total equity slipped 4.8% since year-end 2025 to HK$2.94 billion; gearing (lease liabilities to total capital) remained modest at 8.8%. • No bank borrowings or asset pledges were reported.
Strategic Actions 1. Very Substantial Disposal: On 5 June 2026, the Company agreed to sell its wholly owned subsidiary Motto Investment Limited—housing virtually all piston-engine operations—and related loans to MOBILE ACQUISITIONCO LLC. 2. Connected Property Sale: The Company will sell its Hong Kong office property to controlling shareholder AVIC Innovation (HK) Group for HK$69.50 million. 3. Special Distributions: The Board proposes to distribute the entire proceeds from the disposal and the property sale as special cash dividends, pending completion and shareholder approvals. 4. Proposed Delisting and Winding-Up: Following the divestment, the Board believes the Company will lack sufficient operations to meet listing requirements and therefore intends to apply for voluntary delisting and subsequently wind up the Company after settling all liabilities and paying the proposed dividends.
Operational Highlights • Piston-engine revenue totalled HK$950.79 million, with the U.S. accounting for 79% of sales. • Supply-chain disruptions, under-utilised production capacity and higher quality costs eroded margins. • The Group advanced OEM engine programmes with clients such as Cirrus, Tecnam, Piper and Diamond, expanded aftermarket services, and marked the 25th anniversary of its Jet-A engine line.
Dividend Apart from the proposed special distributions linked to the asset sales, no interim dividend was declared. The HK$46.52 million final dividend for FY 2025 was approved on 28 May 2026.
Post–Reporting-Date Event On 6 August 2026, U.S. subsidiary Continental Aerospace Technologies, Inc. paid US$11.82 million to settle the DOJ investigation related to its PPP loan.
Outlook Management expects continued demand for piston aircraft but notes ongoing supply constraints and cost pressures. Strategic focus remains on certified Avgas and Jet-A engine innovation, digital service expansion and global certification initiatives.
