MCC Q3 2026 Results: Net Profit Jumps 29.9% on Real-Estate Exit; 9M Revenue Falls 24.6%

Bulletin Express10-30

Metallurgical Corporation of China Ltd. (MCC) reported a mixed third-quarter performance for 2026, marked by a sharp rebound in profitability despite a double-digit decline in revenue, reflecting the benefits of exiting its loss-making real-estate unit and refocusing on core metallurgical engineering and “featured” businesses.

Quarterly highlights (Jul–Sep 2026) • Operating revenue fell 21.16% year on year to RMB 76.92 billion. • Net profit attributable to shareholders climbed 29.92% to RMB 1.13 billion; after-tax profit excluding one-offs surged 49.47% to RMB 1.08 billion. • Basic/Diluted EPS improved to RMB 0.05 (up 25.00%). • Management cited the disposal of most real-estate operations, which had generated heavy losses in the prior-year quarter, as the primary driver of the earnings rebound.

Nine-month performance (Jan–Sep 2026) • Revenue: RMB 252.83 billion, down 24.55% versus the prior-year period. • Total profit: RMB 5.68 billion, down 19.11%. • Net profit attributable to shareholders: RMB 3.46 billion, down 12.91%. • Core net profit (ex-one-offs): RMB 2.79 billion, down 8.55%. • Weighted average ROE slipped 0.55 ppt to 2.38%. • Operating cash flow remained negative at –RMB 19.87 billion.

Business mix and order intake MCC continued to execute its “one core, two main bodies, five features” framework and “55 Strategy,” targeting a higher share for metallurgical, industrial and featured segments.

Revenue composition (9M 2026): – Core metallurgical construction: RMB 55.33 billion, 21.9% of total (+4.4 ppts YoY). • Non-ferrous metallurgical engineering: RMB 4.53 billion (+24.9%). • Mining engineering: RMB 6.16 billion (+8.9%). – Featured businesses (engineering services, new materials, high-end equipment, energy & environmental protection, digital intelligence): RMB 32.01 billion, 12.7% of total (+2.8 ppts); digital intelligence revenue surged 49.1% to RMB 0.97 billion.

Contract wins (9M 2026): – Total new orders: RMB 519.17 billion. • Metallurgical construction: RMB 131.80 billion, 25.4% of total (+4.5 ppts). • Industrial construction: RMB 77.63 billion, 15.0% (+2.1 ppts). • Infrastructure construction: RMB 235.58 billion, 45.4% (–7.7 ppts). • Featured businesses: RMB 67.11 billion, 12.9% (+1.6 ppts). • Overseas contracts: RMB 44.56 billion, 8.6% of total (broadly flat YoY).

Balance-sheet and cash flow trends • Total assets stood at RMB 787.26 billion, down 6.22% from end-2025, driven by lower cash and receivables. • Owners’ equity rose 3.55% to RMB 161.30 billion, reflecting retained earnings and a RMB 4.00 billion issuance of perpetual bonds. • The debt-to-asset ratio improved to 75.89%, 2.24 ppts lower than at the start of the year, supported by stronger cash collection (operating cash collection rate 111.75%, +17.69 ppts YoY). • Net cash from investing activities turned positive at RMB 22.29 billion, mainly due to RMB 26.04 billion proceeds from divesting real-estate subsidiaries. • Net cash used in financing reached RMB 19.97 billion as the group pared back borrowings and distributed dividends.

Non-recurring items One-off gains contributed RMB 48.99 million to Q3 profit and RMB 667.78 million year-to-date, mainly from government subsidies, impairment reversals and disposal gains. Excluding these, underlying profitability still improved in Q3, underscoring the benefit of strategic restructuring.

Outlook Management highlighted progress in shifting the revenue mix toward higher-margin metallurgical and featured segments while maintaining disciplined capital management. The focus on “cash is king” has begun to strengthen liquidity, though sustained negative operating cash flow signals the need for continued emphasis on receivables collection and cost control as revenue stabilises.
