On March 10, financial authorities disclosed that the Guizhou Provincial Branch of the People's Bank of China has imposed a penalty on China Merchants Bank Co., Ltd. Guiyang Branch. The branch was found to have violated financial statistics regulations, breached anti-counterfeit currency business management rules, and failed to conduct proper customer due diligence as required. As a result, it received a formal warning and was fined 875,000 yuan.
The penalty was issued by the People's Bank of China Guizhou Provincial Branch on March 2, 2026, and will remain publicly recorded for a period of three years.
