Xie Ning has been at the helm of Bank Of Nanjing Co.,Ltd. (601009) for more than two years. Since taking office, he has driven the bank's organizational restructuring and promoted balanced business development, with the lender's total assets rising and risk control yielding results.
He brings a forward-looking perspective. Early in his tenure, Xie Ning publicly stressed that the bank should be an "achiever" that walks on multiple legs and develops comprehensively. He placed retail credit on a strategic par with corporate business, strengthening the bank's corporate advantages while shoring up its retail shortcomings.
Xie Ning's capabilities are evident to all. Under his leadership, the bank has prioritized retail business, leveraging both the asset and wealth ends to enhance coordination within the retail finance segment. Its retail operations indeed hold considerable growth potential.
As of the end of June 2026, the bank's retail financial assets under management (AUM) stood at 1,102.705 billion yuan, up 100.169 billion yuan, or 9.99%, from the end of the previous year. Over the same period, its personal deposits totaled 669.398 billion yuan, up 75.386 billion yuan, or 12.69%, while its personal loans stood at 344.176 billion yuan, up 9.109 billion yuan, or 2.72%.
The growth in the bank's personal loans trailed that of personal deposits. Affected by the broader environment and its own lending pace, the bank has found personal loan growth difficult. The share of personal loans in total loans slipped to 21.95% in the first half of 2026 from 23.52% at the end of 2025.
Still, the bank's personal business delivered a solid profit performance. In the first half of 2026, its retail finance business posted operating revenue of 9.404 billion yuan, up 23.03% year on year, and retail operating profit of 1.551 billion yuan.
On another front, the bank continues to bring down its non-performing loan ratio. As of the first half of 2026, its NPL ratio was 0.82%, down 0.01 percentage point from the end of the previous year, while its provision coverage ratio was 306.11%, down 7.51 percentage points from the end of the previous year.
By region, for the parent company, based on the geographical distribution of lending, the NPL ratio in Jiangsu was 0.81%, compared with 1.08% in Shanghai, 0.71% in Beijing and 0.27% in Hangzhou, with most regions maintaining relatively low NPL levels.
Asset quality on the bank's retail credit side has likewise shown marginal improvement. As of the end of June 2026, the parent company's personal loan NPL ratio was 1.42%, down 0.07 percentage point from the end of the previous year. Among this, the NPL ratio for housing mortgage loans declined from the end of the previous year.
The bank is systematically advancing its "control new and reduce old" risk management strategy and improving its risk monitoring, early-warning and disposal management processes. At present, it is steadily defusing stock retail credit risks.
On the Yindeng website, the bank published a solicitation announcement for the transfer project of its 2026 ninth batch of personal non-performing loans (personal consumer loans). The project involves creditor's rights totaling 1.247 billion yuan, including total outstanding principal of 707 million yuan, total outstanding interest of 539 million yuan and total fees of 820,100 yuan.
The planned transfer covers 12,470 personal non-performing loans corresponding to 8,572 debtors, with a weighted average overdue period of 1,542.44 days. A highlight of the asset package is that the principal of non-litigated non-performing loan claims amounts to 662 million yuan, accounting for 93.61% of the total package.
Through market-based channels, the bank offloads the assets from its books to free up capital and provision resources, thereby optimizing its retail credit portfolio structure and enhancing overall asset resilience.
