AXERA's Qiu Xiaoshen Forecasts 90% Domestic Market Share for Smart Driving Chips Within Three Years

Deep News04-11

At the High-Level Forum on Intelligent Electric Vehicle Development (2026), AXERA Founder and Chairman Qiu Xiaoshen shared insights during a media dialogue.

Regarding the current market share of domestic chips and the realization of autonomous driving, Qiu Xiaoshen stated, "The proportion of Chinese smart driving chips is certainly less than 50% now. However, the adoption rate in new vehicles is rising rapidly, with companies like Horizon and AXERA seeing fast-growing usage of their smart driving chips. As Chinese automakers expand overseas and, after years of validation, recognize that domestic chips sufficiently meet Europe's stringent regulatory requirements, the market share of local chips is expected to climb swiftly over the next two to three years. I believe it will reach 80% to 90%."

On the topic of L3 and L4 autonomous driving, he added, "I think within three years, we should see smart driving become quite common, as the user experience has already improved significantly. However, achieving truly driverless capability may still require several more years of continuous optimization and evolution. The goal is attainable and no longer seems as distant as it once did."
