Over a hundred construction workers, wearing hard hats and uniforms, move busily throughout the area. This is the bustling scene at the construction site of the storage chip production base and headquarters project of Zhejiang Shenzhen Konying Semiconductor Technology Co., Ltd., located in the Donggang area of Quzhou's Smart Manufacturing New City.
The project commenced last September, with full-scale construction beginning in November. Currently, the two main production buildings have taken initial shape, construction of the comprehensive building has moved from the basement to above-ground stages, and the two employee dormitories have been built up to the first floor. "It has only been just over four months since actual construction started, and the progress has been very rapid," said Liu Tao, the project leader for Konying Semiconductor. According to the plan, the first phase of the project is expected to enter trial production in the fourth quarter of this year, and the entire park is scheduled to be fully operational by early next year.
As a major industrial project with a total investment of approximately 2.3 billion yuan and a total construction area of 250,000 square meters, the Konying Semiconductor storage chip headquarters and industrial base integrates advanced R&D, design, production, and packaging/testing of storage chips. It covers the entire chain from wafer grinding and dicing to high-end packaging and testing, and module product manufacturing, aiming to create an integrated manufacturing base. The company is a National High-Tech Enterprise and a National-Level "Little Giant" specialized and sophisticated SME in Zhejiang Province. Its products are widely used in cutting-edge fields such as smart terminals, the Internet of Things, and automotive electronics, and it has established deep collaborations with leading companies like Samsung, SK Hynix, Baidu, Xiaomi, and TCL.
The rapid landing and efficient progress of the project are attributed to the strong support from Quzhou Smart Manufacturing New City's targeted investment promotion and high-quality government services. The Investment Promotion Department of the Smart Manufacturing New City proactively engaged with the company, holding in-depth discussions on key aspects such as site selection, capital contribution, processes, and policies. Their pragmatic, efficient approach and superior industrial ecosystem convinced the company, leading to the successful landing of the project.
After the project's initiation, Quzhou's "nanny-style" services provided continuous support throughout the process. "The government services in Quzhou are very effective," Liu Tao remarked. He cited an instance where the company encountered obstacles in obtaining fire safety approval within the comprehensive bonded zone. The relevant departments of the Smart Manufacturing New City coordinated and resolved the issue, completing the process within just half a day, thereby clearing hurdles for the project's advancement. Previously, processes from land acquisition and drawing reviews to the start of construction had also proceeded very smoothly, with full efforts made to ensure the project's progress.
It is understood that the Konying Semiconductor project is a key component in Quzhou Smart Manufacturing New City's strategy to promote the integration of the "Five Chains" and strengthen the integrated circuit industry chain. Upon completion, it is expected to effectively enhance the regional semiconductor industry chain, attract upstream and downstream enterprises to cluster, drive the industrial cluster towards higher-end development, and inject strong new momentum into Quzhou's efforts to build a modern industrial system and achieve high-quality economic development.
