OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that the "liability framework" for the AI industry is currently under intense debate, and he expects "there will be a multi-layered kind of thing."
He used the automotive industry as an example, saying there are different ways to hold car manufacturers and irresponsible drivers accountable.
"If someone drives drunk, that's their fault," Altman said. "Depending on whether the fault lies with the model and how it is used, or whether someone is deliberately abusing it, I think we will have a new liability framework."
