On May 17, the 2026 Green Run China National Health Competition (Shaanxi · Changwu Station) commenced with a starting gun. A total of 3,500 runners from across the country gathered at the "Gateway of Qin and Long," sweating and experiencing the boundless joy of movement through running.
The "Green Run China" series is a national fitness brand event developed by the Social Sports Guidance Center of the General Administration of Sport of China, characterized by broad public participation and a focus on green, healthy living. This station featured two categories: a 10-kilometer health run and a 5-kilometer fun run. Participants ranged in age from 6 to 65 years old. On the course, young children could be seen running hand-in-hand with their parents through the arches, while elderly participants demonstrated vigorous strides, embodying the event's inclusive, all-ages philosophy.
Changwu, located at the strategic junction of Shaanxi and Gansu provinces, was a crucial outpost on the ancient Silk Road west of Chang'an, historically renowned as the "Gateway of Qin and Long, Shield of Sanqin." The race route was meticulously designed. Starting from People's Square, runners passed through Zhaoren Street, Liuyi Road, and Gongliu Street. The Tang Dynasty heritage of Zhaoren Temple, the agricultural legacy of Gongliu teaching farming, and the folk legend of Liuyi delivering a message became cultural landmarks along the path, transforming a mass sporting event into a moving humanities lesson.
After intense competition, in the 10-kilometer health run, Jiao Yuxuan won the men's group with a time of 33 minutes and 31 seconds, while Tian Fengxia secured the women's group title with 37 minutes and 16 seconds. In the 5-kilometer fun run, Liu Baozhu took the men's group victory in 17 minutes and 19 seconds, and Cheng Liangyuan won the women's group in 22 minutes and 6 seconds.
According to relevant officials from the event organizing committee, this competition served not only as a sporting spectacle but also as a new engine for activating county-level development. The event actively explored integrated "sports+" pathways, concurrently hosting exhibitions and sales of local specialty agricultural products, cuisine, and apples, attracting runners and local residents to browse and purchase. The committee also distributed consumption vouchers, converting event attendance into increased consumer spending, achieving the goal of "using the event as a medium, culture and tourism as the stage, and the economy as the performance." On the day of the race, hotels and restaurants in the county town saw a noticeable increase in customer flow, with the consumption-boosting effect being immediately apparent.
This station of the event was organized by the Social Sports Guidance Center of the General Administration of Sport of China and the Shaanxi Provincial Sports Bureau, and hosted by the Shaanxi Provincial Social Sports Development Center and the Xianyang Municipal Sports Bureau.
