During the 2026 Sustainable Global Leaders Conference, Zhang Xuefeng, Chairman of China Securities Index Co., Ltd., attended the "Long-Term Capital and Resilient Growth" forum and stated that in recent years, market recognition of the ESG concept has continued to rise, and the number and scale of sustainable investment products have grown rapidly.
From 2018 to 2024, the scale of sustainable investment in major countries and regions worldwide grew from US$902 billion to US$16.75 trillion, with a two-year compound growth rate of 164.8%. As the sustainable investment market becomes increasingly mature, the logic of market development is shifting from narrative-driven to return-driven, placing higher demands on the scientific rigor, precision, and investment usability of ESG evaluation tools.
Zhang Xuefeng introduced that China Securities Index Co., Ltd. has long been deeply engaged in the field of sustainable development. Since compiling its corporate governance index in 2008, the company has continued to deepen related business practices, and in 2021 it began conducting domestic ESG evaluation work. It has now formed a sustainable financial product system covering asset types such as stocks, bonds, and funds.
The company adheres to the evaluation principles of being scientific, objective, fair, and transparent, and continues to make efforts in data source control, cross-validation of data, compliance management, rule transparency, and investment usability, focusing on building a stable and reliable evaluation system.
Zhang Xuefeng pointed out that in order to better serve medium- and long-term investment decisions, China Securities Index Co., Ltd. officially released a new version of the CSI ESG evaluation methodology in September this year, systematically optimizing the evaluation framework, industry differences, and scoring and rating rules, so as to provide the market with ESG evaluation tools that are more scientific, precise, and highly usable, and to better serve sustainable investment practices.
