At the recently concluded 47th Bangkok International Motor Show (BIMS 2026), BYD Company Limited once again delivered a dominant performance. Official data revealed that BYD and its Denza brand collectively secured 18,000 vehicle orders during the event, clinching the top sales position and marking another breakthrough in the company's overseas expansion. This impressive achievement not only set a new record for the brand but also solidified BYD's leadership in Thailand's new energy vehicle market.

The sales rankings at this year's motor show reflected an unprecedented shift in market dynamics. The BYD brand, with 17,300 units (or 18,000 units including Denza), firmly held the top spot, outselling second-place Toyota by 1,600 units. This outcome was not coincidental. In 2025, total registrations for BYD and Denza vehicles in Thailand exceeded 50,000 units, representing a 90% year-on-year increase. From being a newcomer upon its initial entry into the Thai market in 2022 to maintaining the sales lead for three consecutive years, BYD has demonstrated through solid market performance that Thai consumers' vehicle preferences are undergoing a fundamental transformation. Led by BYD, Chinese automakers are evolving from followers into challengers, disrupting a market long dominated by Japanese brands.

BYD's appeal in Thailand extends beyond the general public to include government favor. On March 25, 2026, Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul, in a move to address rising international oil prices, opted to travel to the Prime Minister's office in a BYD Seal 07, switching from his usual Rolls-Royce fleet. This choice served as a practical demonstration of support for energy conservation policies. The selection of a BYD vehicle as the Prime Minister's transport not only signifies recognition of the product's performance, safety, and reliability but also confirms that BYD has become a mainstream choice in Thailand.

Since officially entering the Thai market in August 2022, BYD has completed a transition from "imported sales" to "local manufacturing." In July 2024, BYD's factory in Rayong Province officially commenced operations, boasting an annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles and establishing itself as BYD's first overseas passenger car production base. Concurrently, BYD has built a comprehensive service network and charging ecosystem in Thailand. Its product portfolio covers all segments, from the urban-commuter BYD Dolphin to the luxury MPV Denza D9.

BYD's success in Thailand is not an overnight phenomenon but the result of long-term collaboration with local partners and dedicated efforts from its service team. The company provides not only high-quality vehicles but also a full lifecycle of attentive service, supported by an extensive sales network, comprehensive after-sales service outlets, and a continuously expanding local charging infrastructure. This commitment to a long-term strategy has guided Thai consumers from initial trial to trust, and from curiosity to making BYD their preferred choice. BYD's efforts are making green mobility increasingly accessible across Thailand.
