Initiative for Youth Employment

On August 5, the "Chuan Ying Wei Lai" comprehensive service platform for youth employment and entrepreneurship launched the third season of its "Wei" internship program. The Sichuan Provincial Employment Bureau released over 4,000 internship and probationary positions (including some formal job openings), offering a wide range of opportunities for graduates and other young individuals to gain work experience or seek employment.

Details of the Campaign

According to the provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, Sichuan is currently conducting a 2026 youth employment service campaign targeting graduates and young people who have left school without finding jobs. The initiative focuses on groups such as 2026 graduates who have not yet secured employment, providing comprehensive public employment services including real-name registration, career guidance, skill enhancement, recruitment matching, hardship assistance, and rights protection. One key aspect of this campaign is promoting the implementation of internship positions.

Scope and Accessibility

Internships are a vital pathway for accumulating workplace experience and improving employability. The province is intensifying efforts to collect internship positions by mobilizing industry chain leaders, specialized and innovative small- and medium-sized enterprises, public institutions, social organizations, and urban and rural communities to develop high-quality internship opportunities. It is projected that the province will create over 64,000 internship positions this year, an increase of 1,000 compared to last year. Among these, at least 8,000 community-based internship positions are reserved, encouraging young graduates to immerse themselves in grassroots roles and gain practical experience.

Eligibility and Benefits

Eligible applicants for these internship positions include graduates who have left school within the past two years without finding employment, as well as registered unemployed youth aged 16 to 24. Internship periods range from 3 to 13 months. During the internship, the employing unit is required to provide a basic subsistence allowance, which must meet or exceed the local minimum wage standard. Additionally, interns are covered by personal accident insurance to ensure safety during the internship.

Regional and Sectoral Diversity

Beyond the centralized release of internships by the Sichuan Provincial Employment Bureau, multiple regions within the province, including Yibin, Dazhou, Mianyang, and Aba, have recently issued recruitment information for interns. These positions span a diverse range of employers, from well-known state-owned enterprises and government agencies to community organizations, as well as various types of enterprises and industrial parks. Interested individuals can monitor local employment department websites, while the "Chuan Ying Wei Lai" comprehensive service platform for youth employment and entrepreneurship will continue to collaborate with the Provincial Employment Bureau to release additional internship positions periodically.
