Reports indicate that Iran's Supreme Leader has authorized the government to engage in negotiations.

Oil prices fell in response to the news, allowing the MSCI emerging market currency index to recover its intraday losses.

The index had previously declined by as much as 0.2% at its worst point, but is now flat.

As oil prices weakened further, the Mexican peso and Chilean peso both hit new intraday highs.
