Lianyungang Port's Xuwei Terminal Launches Major Crude Oil Facility

Deep News05:33

The Jiangsu Lianyungang Port Co.,Ltd. (ASX: 601008) has officially commissioned a new 300,000-ton crude oil terminal at its Xuwei Port area.

This significant facility began operations on May 27th, marked by the successful berthing and unloading of the 300,000-ton crude oil tanker "Xin Jiyuan" at Pier 173.

The terminal is designed with an annual throughput capacity of 18.5 million tons and features a 412-meter-long berth, complete with a working platform, mooring dolphins, a fire control building, and a full suite of supporting infrastructure including pipelines and loading equipment.

All systems, encompassing material handling, electrical, control, fire safety, and environmental protection, are reported to be operating stably and meeting design specifications with seamless process integration and robust safety management.

This strategic project is a joint investment by Sinopec Petroleum Sales Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Lianyungang Port Co., Ltd.

By integrating efficiently with the Lianyungang Commercial Crude Oil Reserve Base and the national pipeline network connecting Lianyungang to Huai'an and Yizheng, the new terminal is expected to significantly reduce comprehensive logistics costs for businesses.

Its operation not only enhances the functional layout of Lianyungang Port but also addresses the growing crude oil demand in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River, thereby bolstering the security of the regional crude oil supply system.

The terminal aligns closely with the development and strategic adjustment needs of Jiangsu's petrochemical industry, providing robust energy support for the integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta region.

With the full commissioning of the 400,000-ton ore terminal in the main port area and now the two 300,000-ton crude oil terminals in the Xuwei area, Lianyungang Port is poised to further leverage the advantages of its upgraded 300,000-ton channel.

This development strengthens the port's role in ensuring the secure and efficient flow of international and domestic logistics and supply chains for bulk commodities.
