ChiNext Index Hits 11-Year High as Hong Kong Tech Stocks Surge

On April 15, major A-share indices opened higher, with the Shanghai Composite Index rising 0.31%. The ChiNext Index continued to strengthen, opening more than 1% higher and surpassing the previous high of 3576.12 set on July 22, 2021, marking its highest level since June 19, 2015.

Sectors including memory chips, super-hard materials, computing hardware, energy metals, stablecoins, gold, innovative drugs, AI applications, and semiconductor concept stocks showed strength, while oil and gas stocks retreated.

Hong Kong stocks also opened higher. By the time of reporting, the Hang Seng Index had risen 1.14%, and the Hang Seng Tech Index had gained 2.26%. Technology and internet stocks advanced across the board, with JD.com rising nearly 6%, Alibaba and Baidu Group up over 4%, and Bilibili and SMIC increasing more than 3%.
