According to reports, the world's largest battery manufacturer, CATL, has decided to go "all in" on promoting the electrification of the global shipping industry, aiming to replicate its success in the electric vehicle sector at sea. As a demonstration of its commitment to this field, Su Yi, who leads the company's marine business department, stated that she plans to more than double the team's size this year, reaching approximately 500 people. Su indicated that the current focus is on producing batteries that meet the "extremely high" requirements for operation on water, including long cell lifespan and safety in the marine environment. CATL declined to provide specific sales targets, but a spokesperson expressed strong confidence in the "robust market potential."
