On the afternoon of November 2, regarding reports that Meta has partnered with Shanghai-based robotics company Fourier to develop a humanoid robot prototype, Fourier founder and CEO Gu Jie responded that it is not convenient to comment at this time.

According to The Information, which cited people familiar with the matter on October 31 local time, Meta and Fourier have already developed a humanoid robot prototype with the internal codename "Max," and began developing a second-generation prototype, Max 2, in September.

The report cited a Meta spokesperson as saying that the collaboration with Fourier is primarily for internal research and experimentation, and that there are currently no plans to sell these prototypes.

It is understood that this humanoid robot prototype, called Max, weighs approximately 48 kilograms. People familiar with the matter revealed that Max needs to be able to recognize sounds from 5 meters away, recognize gestures and waving from 3 meters away, maintain eye contact, and express states such as listening, thinking, speaking, and uncertainty through different status signals.

Previously, Meta's Vice President of Robotics Product, Li-Chen Miller, had also spent nearly two months at Fourier's factory in Shanghai.
