From December 14th to 17th, a specialized training activity titled "AI Technology Empowering Art Education," led by the Sichuan Yang Xun Master Studio and jointly organized with the Zigong Education Science Research Institute, was held in Zigong City. The studio leader, Teacher Yang Xun, led studio members and young trainees to gather with art educators from Zigong's primary and secondary schools, exploring innovative pathways for the integration of AI technology and art education.
On December 14th, the training activity officially commenced at the Zhou Yihan Studio in Zigong. Members of the Sichuan Yang Xun Master Studio conducted visits, study tours, and academic exchanges there, deeply discussing the practical directions for "integrating intelligence and beauty" within a setting that intertwines traditional artistic heritage with modern educational concepts. That evening, under the careful arrangement of the Zigong Education Science Research Institute, all participants attended a spectacular Sichuan Opera performance at the Zigong Chuan Opera Troupe. The immersive artistic experience provided a deeper understanding of the interdisciplinary integration of fine arts with sister arts like opera, laying a solid artistic foundation for the subsequent training sessions.
The training program was rich in content, combining theoretical depth with practical application, and included multiple segments such as expert lectures, high-quality demonstration lessons, teaching critiques, achievement sharing, and specialized practical activities. Among them, a lecture titled "The Deep Application of Artificial Intelligence Empowering the Classroom" by Professor Zhou Xiongjun from Sichuan Normal University systematically analyzed the application logic and practical pathways of AI technology in classroom teaching from a theoretical perspective. This helped teachers present recognize that AI is not merely a tool for assisting instruction but a core force driving the transformation of classroom dynamics and enhancing teaching efficiency, opening up new horizons for AI-empowered education.
Li Wei, a Special-Grade Teacher and Senior Teacher in Sichuan Province, presented on the topic "Cultivating Beauty with Intelligence, Inspiring Intelligence with Beauty—Explorations in AI-Enabled Interdisciplinary Teaching." Using real teaching cases, he provided hands-on guidance on integrating AI into daily teaching. Instead of piling on theory, he led participants through live practical exercises: from using intelligent tools to quickly generate teaching resources, to optimizing teaching designs with AI, and collectively completing an interdisciplinary AI lesson plan. Each step allowed teachers to personally experience the efficiency-enhancing charm of the technology.
While theory provides direction, practice demonstrates effectiveness. Two high-quality AI art demonstration lessons gave teachers a direct view of the theory put into practice. Under the overall arrangement of the Sichuan Yang Xun Master Studio, Teacher Zhu Ling from the West Campus of Chengdu Paotongshu Primary School presented a sixth-grade demonstration lesson titled "Hometown Art—Zigong's Intangible Cultural Heritage Fish Lantern." She skillfully used AI technology to present the historical origins and crafting techniques of the Zigong非遗鱼灯 in a visual and interactive format, guiding students to appreciate the art of fish lanterns in a virtual scene. She also utilized AI drawing tools to assist students with creative design, allowing the intangible cultural heritage to gain new vitality through AI empowerment.
The demonstration lesson "Elegant Charm of Velvet Flowers, Embellished by AI" by Teacher Mo Lu from the Shudu Branch of Chengdu Chenghua Primary School was equally brilliant. Using the traditional craft of velvet flowers as a starting point, she leveraged AI technology to transcend spatial and temporal limitations, allowing students to intuitively experience the production process and artistic charm of velvet flowers. She encouraged students to use AI tools for creative design and color matching of velvet flowers, achieving a perfect fusion of traditional aesthetics and modern technology.
Following the demonstration lessons, Teacher Kuang Min, an art teaching researcher for primary and secondary schools from the Chengdu Qingyang District Education Science Institute, and Teacher Yan Shiquan, an art teaching researcher from the Chengdu Chenghua District Education Science Institute, provided professional critiques and in-depth analysis. The two experts precisely highlighted the strengths and distinctive features of the two lessons. Starting from the core competencies of the art discipline, they deeply interpreted the key points, methodological strategies, and precautions for using AI technology in art teaching. They emphasized that the application of AI technology must always be grounded in the essence of the art discipline, serving the cultivation of students' aesthetic abilities and creative expression, while avoiding technological misuse, to achieve "technology empowering teaching, not replacing it." This provided crucial guidance for teachers on the reasonable application of AI technology to enhance teaching quality.
The sharing of teaching achievements by local Zigong teachers also featured many highlights. Teacher Luo Zhongyan from Zigong Huidong Experimental School shared the provincial-level information technology project成果 titled "Seewo Whiteboard Illuminating Efficient Art Classrooms." Combining her own teaching practice, she详细介绍ed the specific application methods and effectiveness of the Seewo Whiteboard in art classrooms, offering practical and replicable experience. The成果 sharing "New Life for Intangible Heritage, Creating the Future with Intelligence—Explorations in Integrating Zigong Lanterns with Art Teaching Empowered by AI" by Teacher Zhong Lin from Zigong Shuguang Middle School focused on the distinctive intangible cultural heritage of Zigong lanterns. It elaborated on how to use AI technology as a support to promote the deep integration of lantern culture with art teaching, exploring new paths for the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage and the innovative development of art education, fully demonstrating the active exploration and fruitful results of Zigong art teachers in AI-empowered teaching.
On December 17th, members of the Sichuan Yang Xun Master Studio participated in the highlight innovation activity for the 2025 China·Zigong Dinosaur Art Week held at Zigong Huinan Experimental School. Teachers and students engaged in dinosaur-themed creative activities together, further expanding the professional reach and teaching influence of this training activity.
Although the four-day training event has concluded, the reflections and inspirations it left for all participating teachers remain fresh and enduring. Everyone expressed that art teachers should proactively explore new paths and methods for integrating AI technology with art education, continuously improving their professional素养 and teaching capabilities. At the same time, they will strengthen inter-school communication and cooperation, share teaching experiences, and jointly promote the high-quality development of art education in Sichuan under the empowerment of AI technology, contributing to the cultivation of more adolescents with aesthetic literacy and an innovative spirit for the new era.
