Flooding at Sinopec Service Station in Guizhou

Deep News05-22

Since May 18, parts of Qiannan and Qiandongnan in Guizhou province have been hit by torrential rain, resulting in the flooding of a service station operated by China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation (Sinopec). Footage shows floodwater backflowing into the station's operational wells, submerging fuel pump islands. The water spread to the power distribution room, forcing the station to suspend operations. More than 30 personnel were dispatched to the site. After 11 hours of work, the station resumed business.

Additionally, Sinopec's Guizhou Petroleum branch has activated a 24-hour green channel for flood prevention and disaster relief, prioritizing refueling for firefighting, medical, and emergency response vehicles. At service stations in severely affected areas, "public service points" have been set up to provide free hot water, instant noodles, bread, and other emergency food supplies to rescue workers and affected residents. Temporary rest areas have also been made available.
