Over 4,300 Stocks Decline Amid Market Selloff

All four major indices closed in the red on August 13, with the Shanghai Composite Index settling at 3,926.96 points, down 0.5%. The Shenzhen Component Index ended at 14,289.44 points, a decline of 0.87%, while the ChiNext Index fell 0.45% to 3,586.04 points. The STAR Composite Index dropped 0.75% to 2,004.58 points.

On the sector front, CRO and innovative drug stocks led the gains, while precious metals, education, real estate, and semiconductor sectors experienced significant declines. Specifically, CRO concept stocks surged against the market trend, with multiple stocks including Bojie Pharmaceutical, Jinan Protein, and Wanbang Pharmaceutical hitting the 20% daily limit upward.

The precious metals sector was the biggest laggard, with Xiaocheng Technology falling nearly 9%. Other major losers included Zhaojin Gold, Hunan Silver, and Chifeng Gold.

The total trading volume on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges reached 2.55 trillion yuan, up 398.5 billion yuan from the previous trading day. Across the entire market, more than 4,300 stocks declined.
