As the year draws to a close, positive news has emerged from Jiangsu—800 provincial-level major industrial projects have already achieved their annual investment targets ahead of schedule. Efforts are underway across the province to expedite the completion and operation of more projects.
As a leading manufacturing hub, investment plays a crucial role in Jiangsu's industrial landscape. This year, the province planned to implement 800 major industrial projects, an increase of 200 from the previous year, with a total investment of 1.51228 trillion yuan and an annual planned investment of 347.89 billion yuan.
Advanced manufacturing accounts for 98.3% of these 800 projects, focusing on 16 emerging industrial clusters and 50 key supply chains prioritized by Jiangsu, further strengthening its position as a globally competitive advanced manufacturing base.
In Yandu District, Yancheng, Jiangsu Leijiang Technology Co., Ltd., a 5-billion-yuan investment by Everwin Precision, has entered the critical phase of trial production and equipment debugging, with 80% of its core production lines already operational.
In Rugao Economic and Technological Development Zone, Swedish truck manufacturer Scania celebrated the rollout of its first locally assembled vehicles. Currently, Scania has designated 40 Tier-1 suppliers in Jiangsu, with peak annual supporting procurement exceeding 1 billion yuan. The localization rate for complete vehicles and components is expected to reach 85%.
Rutger de Vries, President of Scania Asia Industrial Operations, stated, "At our Rugao production base, we can deliver customized trucks to customers within weeks. Undoubtedly, we will continue to increase our investment in China, expanding our production capacity here. We manufacture for global markets, serving not only China but also broader regions in Asia, Oceania, and beyond."
Global lithium battery giant CATL continues to favor Jiangsu. In southern Jiangsu, CATL has expanded its investments in Liyang this year, with LY7 commencing production, LY8 breaking ground, and LY9 being signed—marking three consecutive 10-billion-yuan projects. In northern Jiangsu, CATL has also announced a new project in Binhai Port.
Currently, Jiangsu accounts for over 40% of China's power battery production, making it the largest production base nationwide and globally. Among the 800 major industrial projects this year, all 265 planned to start construction have commenced, while 215 projects slated for completion are in their final push.
