Hainan Province Releases 2025 Wire Product Quality Inspection Findings for Distribution Channels

During the fourth quarter of 2025, the Hainan Provincial Market Supervision Administration conducted a supervisory inspection of wire products within the province's distribution sector. A total of 27 product batches were inspected, with one batch found to be non-compliant based on testing.

The inspection was carried out according to the requirements of standards including GB/T5023.3-2008, GB/T5023.5-2008, and JB/T8734.2-2016. The following items were tested: average insulation thickness, minimum insulation thickness, average sheath thickness, minimum sheath thickness, conductor resistance, tensile strength of insulation before aging, elongation at break of insulation before aging, tensile strength of insulation after aging, elongation at break of insulation after aging, change rate of tensile strength of insulation after aging, change rate of elongation at break of insulation after aging, tensile strength of sheath before aging, elongation at break of sheath before aging, tensile strength of sheath after aging, elongation at break of sheath after aging, change rate of tensile strength of sheath after aging, change rate of elongation at break of sheath after aging, flexibility test, and flame propagation test.

The inspection revealed that one batch failed to meet the standard requirements for a safety-related indicator. The specific non-compliant item was conductor resistance. No items related to performance requirements were found to be non-compliant.

Excessive conductor resistance increases energy loss when current passes through the line, intensifies heat generation in the wire and cable, and accelerates the aging of the wire's outer insulation layer, thereby shortening the product's service life. Severely excessive conductor resistance can easily lead to fires, resulting in casualties and property damage.

The non-compliant products identified in the inspection will be transferred to the local market supervision authorities of the inspected entities and the claimed manufacturers for processing according to the law.
