The Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX) announced on July 6 that it welcomes the new Assistant Chief Executive (Monetary Management) of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), Mr. Ng Ying-kei, as a member of its Statutory Risk Management Committee.
This appointment is made in accordance with the Securities and Futures Ordinance, with Mr. Ng succeeding the HKMA's former Assistant Chief Executive (Monetary Management), Mr. Ho Hon-kit, in the role.
Information from the HKMA's official website shows that Mr. Ng holds a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Politics and Law) and a Master of Economics from the University of Hong Kong. He joined the HKMA as a Senior Manager in 2014 and was promoted to Head in 2017.
He has worked across various functional areas within the HKMA, including institutional development, external affairs, and banking supervision. Prior to his current appointment, Mr. Ng served as the Assistant Chief Executive for Institutional Development and Operations.
Before joining the HKMA, Mr. Ng worked as an Administrative Officer for the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government.
The members of the HKEX Statutory Risk Management Committee are as follows: Carlson Tong (Chairman), Nicholas Brooke, Chan Kin-por, Koo Loo-hee, Kwok Pui-fong, Leung Chung-yin, Ng Ying-kei, and Sun Yu.
