On April 8, 2026, the new flight procedures for the 3,000-meter runway at Bijie Feixiong Airport in Guizhou province successfully underwent on-site verification through a test flight. This milestone marks the final phase of preparations for the airport's reopening, with commercial flight operations scheduled to resume by the end of July.
The test flight was conducted by Guizhou Airlines, a subsidiary of China Southern Airlines, under the commission of Bijie Feixiong Airport. A Boeing 737-800 aircraft was utilized for the operation, with a crew of five pilots selected to carry out the mission. The flight rigorously adhered to civil aviation regulations and technical standards, thoroughly validating key aspects of the new procedures—including approaches, departures, landing protocols, and go-around maneuvers—to ensure they are safe, standardized, and operationally viable.
As a key aviation gateway for Bijie's connectivity with other regions, the upgraded Feixiong Airport will be capable of handling up to 2.65 million passengers annually. The enhancement is expected to significantly boost regional air transport capacity, facilitate economic and cultural exchanges, and support the integration of tourism with rural revitalization efforts.
