On December 22, under the comprehensive support of the Lianyungang Maritime Safety Administration, the world's first salmon farming vessel, "Suhai No.1," successfully berthed at its home port—Ganyu Port in Lianyungang—to commence its first batch of fry loading operations.
To ensure safe and efficient berthing operations, the Lianyungang Maritime Safety Administration took multiple proactive measures. These included collaborating with meteorological departments to issue specialized weather and sea condition forecasts, organizing expert safety assessment meetings, and formulating tailored support plans. The administration also coordinated with port authorities and tugboat companies to optimize berthing schedules.
Advanced monitoring systems such as smart maritime platforms, AIS, CCTV, drone patrols, and coast guard vessel surveillance were deployed to maintain multi-dimensional oversight of vessel movements and operational waters. Additionally, the administration cleared navigation channels in advance to ensure unimpeded traffic flow.
On-site inspections were rigorously conducted, verifying vessel certifications and crew qualifications, with particular attention given to firefighting, lifesaving, and anti-pollution equipment to confirm their optimal functionality.
Designed by the Fishery Machinery and Instrument Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Fishery Sciences, "Suhai No.1" represents an intelligent offshore aquaculture facility integrating breeding, harvesting, and processing of high-value fish species. With a farming capacity of 83,000 cubic meters and an annual output of 8,000 tons, the vessel is expected to provide stable and abundant salmon supplies to the market.
