On October 30, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released the operational situation of the software industry for the first three quarters of 2026.
In the first three quarters, China's software business revenue reached 11.8031 trillion yuan, up 8.4% year-on-year. The total profit of the software industry was 1.33 trillion yuan, up 1.6% year-on-year. Software business exports amounted to 51.94 billion US dollars, up 12.2% year-on-year.
Overall operational situation
In the first three quarters, the software and information technology services industry maintained a sound operational momentum, with steady growth in software business revenue, stable growth in total profits, and relatively rapid growth in software business exports.

Operational situation by segment
Software product revenue grew steadily. In the first three quarters, software product revenue increased by 5% year-on-year, accounting for 20.8% of the industry's total revenue. Among this, basic software product revenue grew by 7.8% year-on-year, and industrial software product revenue grew by 7.3% year-on-year.
Information technology service revenue continued to grow. In the first three quarters, information technology service revenue increased by 9.3% year-on-year, accounting for 69.5% of the industry's total revenue. Among this, cloud computing and big data services together achieved revenue growth of 10.2% year-on-year, accounting for 17.9% of information technology service revenue. Integrated circuit design revenue grew by 23.3% year-on-year. E-commerce platform technical service revenue grew by 4.9% year-on-year.
Information security revenue and embedded system software revenue grew steadily. In the first three quarters, information security products and services revenue increased by 5.4% year-on-year. Embedded system software revenue grew by 10.3% year-on-year.
Operational situation by region
In the first three quarters, software business revenue in the eastern, central, western, and northeastern regions grew by 8.3%, 13.3%, 8.4%, and 4.3% year-on-year respectively. The eastern region accounted for 83.5% of the national software business revenue. Software business revenue in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region grew by 7.2% year-on-year, and software business revenue in the Yangtze River Delta region grew by 9.9% year-on-year, with the two regions accounting for 26.6% and 29.8% of national software business revenue respectively.
Beijing, Guangdong, Jiangsu, Shanghai, and Shandong ranked among the top five in the country for software business revenue, growing by 6.8%, 8.9%, 9.3%, 10%, and 5.8% year-on-year respectively.
