On October 21, the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Primary and Secondary School Art Works and Art Practice Workshop Special Exhibition was held at the Hohhot Art Museum. Backed by solid aesthetic education achievements and rich artistic practice experience, two schools — Jungar Banner Ethnic Middle School and Jungar Banner Nuanshui Primary School — were successfully selected to represent Ordos at this regional-level special exhibition, fully demonstrating the level of arts education in Jungar Banner's primary and secondary schools and the spirited, upward-looking outlook of young people in the new era. This stands as a vivid microcosm of the banner's years of deep cultivation in aesthetic education, simultaneous development of five educations, and empowerment of students' all-round development.
This regional primary and secondary school art works and art practice workshop special exhibition is a high-level centralized display platform for aesthetic education achievements across the entire region, with strict standards for work quality, creative concepts, practical innovation, and regional characteristics. After rounds of municipal-level selection and rigorous review, the art works and campus art practice workshop projects of the two schools in our banner successfully broke through, secured municipal recommendation qualifications for the exhibition, and stood on the regional display stage. This is not only high recognition of the distinctive aesthetic education work of the two schools, but also powerful confirmation of the effectiveness of high-quality development of aesthetic education across the entire Jungar Banner.
In recent years, Jungar Banner has consistently adhered to the fundamental task of fostering virtue through education, deeply implemented the aesthetic education infiltration action, and treated aesthetic education work as an important lever for the high-quality development of basic education. Based on the actual conditions of education development across the banner, it has coordinated region-wide aesthetic education resources, improved the aesthetic education system, deeply cultivated distinctive aesthetic education classrooms, and continuously promoted the transformation and upgrading of aesthetic education work in primary and secondary schools across the banner from "universal coverage" to "quality and efficiency improvement."
In terms of top-level planning, the Jungar Banner Education and Sports Bureau attaches great importance to the value of aesthetic education in nurturing people, continuously improves the long-term mechanism for aesthetic education work across the banner, coordinates the balanced development of aesthetic education in urban and rural primary and secondary schools, fully staffs and strengthens art teachers, and regularly carries out aesthetic education teaching research and training, art teacher exchange and discussion, and aesthetic education achievement evaluation and display activities. It fills the shortcomings of grassroots aesthetic education, narrows the gap between urban and rural aesthetic education, and builds a new pattern of county-level aesthetic education development featuring region-wide coordination, urban-rural linkage, full participation, and whole-process infiltration.
In teaching practice, all primary and secondary schools across the banner adhere to nurturing people through aesthetics and transforming people through culture, break through the limitations of traditional classrooms, and deeply integrate regular art teaching, after-school service clubs, distinctive workshop construction, and local cultural heritage. Based on campus characteristics and deeply exploring regional cultural resources, each school regularly carries out diversified art practice activities such as painting, handicrafts, intangible cultural heritage creation, and creative design, allowing aesthetic education to step out of textbooks and into life. This effectively stimulates students' aesthetic creativity, artistic expression, and cultural inheritance abilities, enabling every student to enjoy quality aesthetic education resources and harvest artistic growth.
The two schools participating in this exhibition are excellent microcosms of the flourishing development of aesthetic education across the banner. The "Grass and Trees Know the Season" art practice workshop of Jungar Banner Ethnic Middle School and the "Paper Leaps Cloud Steps" paper-cutting workshop of Jungar Banner Nuanshui Primary School feature distinctive works and unique craftsmanship. Traditional paper-cutting culture and natural grass-and-tree creative aesthetics are perfectly integrated, with strong artistic appeal, attracting a large number of visiting teachers and students to stop and appreciate carefully throughout, and the impressive aesthetic education results received unanimous praise on site.
Relying on regular aesthetic education teaching and distinctive art club construction, the two schools guide students to perceive artistic charm and inherit excellent culture in creative practice, polishing high-quality works and practice projects that combine ideological content, artistry, and innovation, fully demonstrating the solid artistic literacy and rich imagination and creativity of Jungar students.
Yang Xiurong, instructor of the "Paper Leaps Cloud Steps" paper-cutting workshop at Jungar Banner Nuanshui Primary School, said that regular practice allows aesthetic education to go beyond the classroom. Relying on paper-cutting techniques, students are guided to transform local folk customs into works through composition, collage, and cutting, achieving the transformation of classroom knowledge into artistic results and allowing local sentiment to grow naturally in creation. Students improve aesthetic perception and appreciation abilities through hands-on creation and cooperative exploration, exercise focus and hands-on ability, make bold attempts in composition and color, activate innovative thinking, and improve overall quality. Aesthetic education also nourishes the soul silently. Going forward, exhibition experience will be integrated into daily classrooms, aesthetic education teaching will be optimized, paper-cutting practice will be carried out regularly, display platforms will be built, and more students will be driven to experience the charm of intangible cultural heritage and aesthetic education, allowing aesthetic education to take root in the local area and sprout in students' hearts.
Aesthetic education nourishes silently and empowers growth and success. "Next, Jungar Banner will take this regional-level exhibition as an opportunity to summarize aesthetic education work experience, refine distinctive education models, continuously deepen the reform of integrated five-education development, constantly enrich aesthetic education curriculum supply, innovate art practice forms, strengthen local aesthetic education brands, continuously consolidate the foundation of aesthetic education across the banner, comprehensively improve young people's aesthetic literacy and overall quality, and use high-quality aesthetic education work to boost the high-quality development of basic education across the banner," said Tian Yunxia, deputy director of the Banner Education and Sports Bureau.
It is reported that, at the invitation of the organizer of this event, the workshops of the two participating schools in our banner, as one of the excellent workshops, will continue to be exhibited until November 20.
