JD.com Elevates PLUS Business Membership to Drive a Million SMEs From Cost Savings to Operational Excellence

Deep News16:41

JD.com announced on the 28th that it is upgrading its "PLUS Business Membership," the first paid membership system in the corporate procurement sector. While retaining core benefits such as an additional 5% discount on top of existing promotions, free shipping on self-operated items, and interest-free payment terms, the upgrade introduces a range of new product, pricing, and service perks designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) achieve greater savings with higher purchase volumes and more value from frequent transactions.

Ma Yushan, Vice President of JD.com's Government and Enterprise Business and General Manager of the SME Customer Business Unit, stated that JD.com has always considered supporting the sustained, high-quality development of SMEs a key mission. The company's procurement services, enterprise solutions, and AI technology support are all aimed at lowering the barrier for SMEs to experiment with new products and capabilities. Since its launch in August 2025, this membership model, tailored specifically for SMEs, has quickly evolved from a novelty into an essential tool.

Currently, the membership serves 100,000 enterprises across industries including machinery manufacturing, biopharmaceuticals, AI robotics, automotive, internet, and hospitality. Member companies report an average procurement cost reduction of 20% and purchase frequency 3.5 times higher than that of non-member enterprises.

The most significant change in this upgrade is the extension of member services from the procurement process to all aspects of daily business operations, addressing cash flow, efficiency, and the smooth functioning of the entire operational chain.

Core benefits of the PLUS Business Membership include an extra 5% off, exclusive instant discounts, free shipping on self-operated items, extended interest-free payment periods, free returns and exchanges, a 180-day replacement warranty, and 24/7 dedicated customer service. The newly added benefits—enterprise service preferential pricing, private enterprise events, points redemption, PLUS super subsidies, volume-based rebates, PLUS card purchase perks, and a multi-card model allowing one primary card with three supplementary cards—extend the service scope from simple purchasing to broader business management.

On the ecosystem front, JD.com has built a one-stop comprehensive service matrix, adding an enterprise service supply package that integrates third-party resources such as Changjietong and WPS365, redeemable through points. It also offers exclusive corporate travel pricing for flights, hotels, and train tickets, with enterprise service preferential prices as low as 30% off, expanding from procurement cost reduction to comprehensive operational resource support.

On the service side, JD.com has adjusted its financial solutions, extending payment terms to up to 41 days for the Classic Card and 61 days for the Premium Card, with accompanying Jincai credit services to ease cash flow pressure. New enterprise study camps have been added, featuring multiple annual events including visits to leading companies, industry summits, and park exchange activities, creating networking channels for entrepreneurs and accelerating the integration of large and small enterprises.

On the product side, JD.com has opened up exclusive instant discounts on millions of products, distributed monthly coupon packages valued at 2,180 yuan, scheduled major subsidy events on the 8th and 18th of each month, and implemented volume-based rebate policies to further amplify price advantages.

The upgraded PLUS Business Membership is now officially available on JD Business Procurement, with customized advanced versions planned for enterprises at different development stages. While membership benefits serve as the soft service layer, AI technology forms the hard foundation of this upgrade. As JD.com's core platform for serving government and enterprise clients, JD's Government and Enterprise Business has established a three-part architecture combining an AI entry point, a procurement intelligent agent hub, and scenario-based supply chain fulfillment.

SMEs can leverage the AI procurement assistant built on JD.com's JoyAI large model to handle AI-based price inquiries, intelligent price comparison, multimodal product selection, precise demand matching, and compliance approvals in one stop. Real-world data shows that the AI procurement assistant has served over 200,000 enterprises, deployed more than 70 intelligent applications, reduced repetitive work by 80%, shortened communication cycles by 60%, and effectively lowered overall procurement costs.

In addition to the membership upgrade, JD Business Procurement also joined forces on the 28th with leading professional service platforms and industrial parks—including Changjietong, WPS365, Lenovo Baiying, and Minsheng E+—to form the SME Service Ecosystem Alliance. This alliance aggregates resources from multiple parties to provide enterprises with one-stop services covering people, finance, materials, and operations across all scenarios.

Pharmaceutical company Deshengtang Group, facing procurement cost and control challenges due to scattered stores and diverse product categories, leveraged JD's PLUS Business Membership benefits including free shipping, discounted pricing, and a nationwide warehousing and distribution network. This resolved its procurement, reconciliation, and after-sales issues, improving procurement efficiency by 40%.

Tingyu Technology, a national specialized and innovative "little giant" enterprise, used the one-stop services of JD's PLUS Business Membership to significantly reduce management costs associated with multiple service providers, achieving an overall cost reduction of 20%. Beijing Zhuoyue Weilai, focused on full-process clinical trial services, gained unified material distribution, consolidated reconciliation, and automated invoice collection through membership, effectively lowering procurement costs and freeing up human resources to concentrate on core business.

These practical cases represent a snapshot of JD Business Procurement's deep engagement with numerous enterprises. Since 2014, when JD.com first entered the corporate procurement space, it has leveraged over a decade of industry experience, advanced digital technology, a full-scenario service system, and a mature industrial ecosystem to become the largest SME procurement service platform in China. It now serves more than 10 million SMEs, covering 95% of China's top 500 private enterprises and 70% of specialized and innovative "little giant" companies.

The platform has established a service system covering core scenarios such as corporate procurement, office services, financial and tax management, business travel, and employee health care, flexibly adapting to the procurement and operational needs of enterprises of various sizes and industries. This membership upgrade marks a new starting point. JD.com will continue investing in technology and services, leveraging its supply chain depth and AI capabilities to help enterprises transform procurement from a cost center into an operational efficiency driver, moving from merely saving money to achieving better business outcomes.
