DiDi Global Inc. and Tianjin Public Transport Group have officially launched their collaborative on-demand bus service in the Beichen Shuangqing area of Tianjin. This expansion marks a new service zone for the DiDi on-demand bus following its previous launches in Tianjin Airport, Yangliuqing, and Xianshuigu.

Diverging from the conventional bus model of fixed routes, stops, and schedules, the DiDi on-demand bus adopts a flexible model characterized by a defined service area, variable timing, dynamic routing, and adaptable stops. It utilizes DiDi's intelligent algorithms to dynamically match real-time travel demand with route planning, focusing on refining services based on user needs. Within the designated operational zone, the system automatically matches buses to citizens' immediate travel requests, dynamically calculates the optimal route, and delivers a personalized bus service that is "on-call" via a mobile app.

Han Jiaqing, Deputy Director of the Operations Department at Tianjin Public Transport Group, commented, "Partnering with DiDi to launch the on-demand bus service is a significant step in the digital transformation and upgrade of Tianjin's public transport. Our traditional bus lines have fixed stops, routes, and schedules, whereas the on-demand bus represents a new operational model of 'service on demand,' offering greater convenience and flexibility. From the airport area to Yangliuqing, from Xianshuigu to Beichen Shuangqing, we are better meeting the needs of the general public, filling service gaps in public transport, achieving seamless integration with rail transit, and enabling more Tianjin residents to enjoy the benefits of smart public transport."

Since its launch in Tianjin seven months ago, the DiDi on-demand bus has served nearly 200,000 passenger trips. Passenger-carrying mileage accounts for 87% of total distance, significantly reducing bus empty-run rates. The service has currently planned 970 stops within its operational area, averaging 15 stops per square kilometer, which is four times denser than the stop density of conventional bus services in the same region. This has resulted in a 50% reduction in passenger wait times. The average walking distance for users to reach a pickup point is 120 meters, effectively connecting communities, campuses, hospitals, and main transportation networks.

Presently, the DiDi on-demand bus service is operational in cities including Tianjin, Guangzhou, Yingtan, Ganzhou, Nanchang, Ji'an, Hefei, Jinhua, Kaifeng, Changshu, and Jinan. Through partnerships with local public transport enterprises, the service aims to benefit local residents. Looking ahead, under the guidance of transportation authorities at various levels, DiDi plans to deepen its cooperation with public transport companies across different regions, continuously enhance the product experience, and expand to more service areas in due course.
