Dell Technologies Inc. shares reached an all-time high of $514.00 during trading on Thursday, extending a rally that has defined 2026. This surge is especially positive for founder and CEO Michael Dell, who has seen the second-largest wealth increase globally this year.
Michael Dell has been among the fastest-growing billionaires in 2026, with the recent sharp rise in company stock pushing his ranking to fifth place on the global rich list as of Wednesday.
As of Wednesday's market close, Dell's net worth was approximately $246 billion, having added $12.6 billion in a single day. His wealth has grown by a cumulative $106 billion so far this year.
This $106 billion gain trails only the top-ranked Elon Musk, who is currently worth a staggering $884 billion.
Dell began the year ranked eleventh on the billionaire list, but has since surpassed several individuals to break into the top five.
His wealth is primarily derived from three components: his nearly 40% stake in Dell Technologies Inc., a significant holding in Broadcom Inc., and cash assets.
Following Broadcom's acquisition of VMware, which was previously spun off from Dell, he received a substantial block of Broadcom shares. Broadcom's stock has risen 20.2% year-to-date.
In 2025, the Dell family committed $6.25 billion to support the Trump savings account plan, which aims to establish investment accounts for 25 million children.
So far in 2026, Dell Technologies Inc. shares have surged 287.5%, making it one of the standout performers among large-cap blue-chip stocks.
Earlier this year, former U.S. President Donald Trump publicly endorsed the company, drawing additional investor attention. At an event, Trump praised the company's founder and urged consumers to "buy Dell products."
Subsequent reports revealed that Trump himself holds Dell stock, meaning his public backing and any resulting increase in Dell product sales could generate personal financial gains for him.
Even without Trump's endorsement, Dell's stock price has been on a strong trajectory, driven primarily by continuously rising demand for AI servers. The company is viewed by the market as a core player in the artificial intelligence infrastructure space, and its recent string of better-than-expected earnings reports has consistently fueled the stock's upward momentum.
Dell Technologies Inc. is scheduled to report its second-quarter financial results on September 3, 2026.
