In the golden autumn season, the millet at the ten-thousand-mu miscellaneous grain base in Dalinhe Township, Yingxian County, has enjoyed a bountiful harvest. The tiny millet, from field planting to deep processing, from raw grain products to distinctive brands, has become a golden specialty industry for local people to increase income and achieve prosperity, and to support rural revitalization.
Good seeds are the foundation of high yield and quality. Dalinhe Township in Yingxian County has deeply advanced the agricultural specialty and excellence development strategy, relying on the millet science and technology backyard, regularly connecting with expert teams from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and Shanxi Agricultural University, introducing new high-yield and high-quality millet varieties, and continuously optimizing the structure of miscellaneous grain planting. Villager Xu Riming of Dalinhe Township, Yingxian County, said that Qinyou No. 3 millet has excellent grain quality, the seeds were recommended by the Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and the yield per mu is at least 900-1,000 jin.
To change the development model of scattered planting and individual farming by households, Dalinhe Township took the lead in establishing a millet industry alliance, with professional cooperatives as the link, through large-scale planting, standardized management, and collective development, effectively stabilizing millet quality, broadening sales channels, and minimizing farmers' planting risks. Xing Quanli, head of the Yingxian Millet Industry Alliance, said that establishing the millet industry alliance provides seeds, technical guidance, and collective development, reducing farmers' worries and driving more farmers to rely on the millet industry to increase production and income and become prosperous.
Bountiful harvests and increased income in the fields, quality improvement and value appreciation in the workshops. The Party Committee of Dalinhe Township invested 16 million yuan to build a small miscellaneous grain processing project. These days, in the enterprise workshop, intelligent production lines are running at full speed. The original ecological millet purchased and stored, after multiple fine processes such as impurity removal, fine selection, shelling, and color sorting, is transformed into uniformly sized, brightly colored premium millet. Li Xingliang, chairman of Yingxian Hongsheng Agricultural Trading Co., Ltd., introduced that there is full guaranteed purchase, no picking and choosing, no price suppression; the collected millet, after multiple rounds of screening, fine shelling, color sorting and purification, and standardized processing, creates the local "Huangjindan" selenium-enriched millet specialty brand, allowing farmers' good millet to sell at a good price and with a good reputation.
Relying on dual authoritative certifications of green food and selenium enrichment, the influence of the local "Huangjindan" selenium-enriched millet brand continues to grow, with sales reaching 5 million yuan in 2025. This has achieved the transformation and upgrading of the miscellaneous grain industry from "selling raw grain" to "selling quality and selling brands."
Qin Xueguang, head of Dalinhe Township, Yingxian County, introduced that in recent years, Dalinhe Township has built more than 20,000 mu of standardized organic dry-farming miscellaneous grain base, with the coverage rate of improved millet varieties in the entire township reaching over 97%, driving an average income increase of more than 600 yuan per mu for farmers. Next, they will continue to solidify the foundation of the miscellaneous grain industry, improve industrial quality and efficiency, and do practical work for the benefit of the people, striving to contribute Linhe's strength to building the county into a strong agricultural modernization county and creating a model for integrated agricultural and pastoral development.
