Shanghai's Economic and Information Technology Commission has issued the "Shanghai Action Plan for Accelerating the Development of a New Generation of Smart Manufacturing," which calls for the development and promotion of new types of smart manufacturing equipment.

The plan supports deep integration of AI technology with equipment, pushing smart manufacturing equipment to upgrade into equipment agents.

It calls for the development and promotion of physical AI equipment, including robots, industrial mother machines, and testing equipment with autonomous perception and decision-making capabilities, using the needs of smart factory construction to drive equipment upgrading and large-scale application.

The plan supports breakthroughs in robotics innovation, including humanoid robots, collaborative robots, and high-precision heavy-duty robots; accelerates the iterative upgrading of AI-empowered industrial mother machines such as ultra-precision grinding machines, large five-axis machine tools, and high-speed dual five-axis mirror milling machines; and promotes the construction of independent capabilities in testing equipment such as X-ray photoelectron spectrometers, residual gas mass spectrometers, and industrial CT systems.
