China Telecom Xiong'an Branch Helps Rongdong Area Welcome "AI Traffic Commander"

Deep News01-23 19:42

Hidden drones in smart light poles and AI traffic lights with accurate countdowns are quietly transforming the travel experience on Xiong'an New Area's digital roads. In the Rongdong area of Xiong'an New Area, encountering a continuous string of green lights while driving is no longer just a matter of luck. The smart light poles lining the digital roads integrate various intelligent devices that collect real-time road information and upload it to a cloud-based "brain" for analysis and decision-making. Recently, many observant drivers have noticed that even at the most complex intersections, the morning and evening rush hours have become significantly smoother. All these improvements are credited to the technological breakthroughs achieved in the Rongdong digital road construction, supported by the collaborative efforts of Xiong'an New Area Company and Digital City Company.

Their technical development and implementation support work, focused on the core scenarios of digital roads and traffic management in the Rongdong area, has recently received high praise from the Traffic Management and Special Patrol Police Detachment of the Xiong'an New Area Public Security Bureau. In the construction of entry and exit checkpoints within the Rongdong area, the project team completed tasks including equipment installation, location optimization, and data collection. Through in-depth mining of the checkpoint data, the team successfully developed core algorithms and completed related product designs, providing reliable data support for traffic management departments to accurately understand traffic flow patterns and implement dynamic control strategies.

Within the 12.7 square kilometers of the Rongdong area, 153 kilometers of digital roads have been constructed, laying a solid foundation for smart transportation applications. Alongside these digital roads, over 7,000 multifunctional information poles are equipped with traffic signals, cameras, radar, and various types of sensing facilities. These devices collect road information in real-time, 24/7, and upload it to a unified cloud platform, feeding it to the digital road's "most powerful brain"—the Intelligent Operations Center system—for analysis and application, providing crucial support for vehicle-road coordination.

To address the challenge of illegal parking enforcement in the Rongdong area, the project team leveraged its technical expertise to successfully implement a high-precision illegal parking detection technology solution. This solution enables accurate identification, real-time capture, and rapid reporting of illegal parking behaviors in key road sections and critical areas. To enhance the operational and maintenance efficiency of the digital roads, the team integrated the smart light poles with intelligent connected drones, creating an intelligent inspection application scenario combining "digital roads + low-altitude" operations. Small drones concealed within the smart light poles can be dispatched remotely via 4G/5G networks and, utilizing visual AI and large model technology, can automatically identify various road incidents.

In the signal control optimization work, the project team accurately targeted pain points such as tidal wave congestion at intersections, achieving dynamic and intelligent regulation of traffic signals. The team designed a "digital tidal lane" scheme for multiple roads in the Rongdong area. After these schemes achieved the expected results through traffic simulation tests, they were synchronized with the police traffic signal control system. Without altering the physical road layout, road carrying capacity has been increased by 30% through signal coordination. The AI traffic lights have become "thinking traffic commanders." Utilizing traffic perception devices on the signal poles, they capture real-time dynamic data such as vehicle flow and pedestrian crossings. Through AI algorithms, they quickly analyze humane traffic release strategies, accurately adjust signal light durations, and achieve optimal distribution of traffic flow.

China Telecom's Xiong'an New Area Company will continue to deepen its cooperation with the New Area's Traffic and Special Patrol Detachment, focusing on core traffic management scenarios for ongoing technological iteration and optimization.
