Recently, the cycling (mountain bike and road) competition of the 21st Jiangsu Provincial Games commenced at the Jiagu Mountain Scenic Area in Ganyu District, Lianyungang City. As the official communication support partner for the event, China Mobile's Lianyungang Branch in Jiangsu Province (hereafter referred to as Lianyungang Mobile) made advance preparations. Leveraging reliable network resources, a professional technical team, and comprehensive contingency plans, the company provided full-process communication support to ensure the smooth execution of the competition.
The road cycling course for this event was laid out along the natural terrain of the Jiagu Mountain Scenic Area, featuring a long route span, complex undulating topography, and variable outdoor conditions. The venue accommodated participants, staff, and spectators, necessitating the simultaneous fulfillment of multiple communication demands including live event broadcasting, on-site coordination, media coverage, and public internet access. This placed high requirements on network coverage stability, signal transmission fluency, and data timeliness, significantly increasing the difficulty of outdoor communication support.
To effectively fulfill its support mission, Lianyungang Mobile implemented a "one-venue-one-plan, full-process monitoring" mechanism. Prior to the event, the technical team conducted thorough inspections and signal testing along key areas of the course, including the start and finish lines, command center, and media broadcast zones, identifying and addressing network blind spots, weak signal areas, and potential interference issues one by one. To tackle signal transmission challenges posed by mountainous and curved terrain, the company precisely adjusted base station parameters, expanded network bandwidth, and deployed additional emergency communication points. This involved laying nearly 3 kilometers of new optical cable and activating temporary 4G and 5G base stations, comprehensively enhancing both the quality and capacity of network coverage in the event area.
Throughout the competition, the team continuously monitored network status, traffic load, and signal quality, dynamically allocating resources and promptly addressing any unforeseen incidents. The network operated stably with smooth signal transmission for the entire duration of the event, achieving a record of zero communication failures, zero errors, and zero complaints. This provided reliable communication support for the safe and orderly conduct of the games.
Furthermore, to address communication and coordination limitations in remote, topographically complex mountainous sections, Lianyungang Mobile supplied 38 "HeDuijiang" push-to-talk terminals for the event. These devices feature strong signal penetration, stable operation, and minimal susceptibility to terrain or distance, effectively ensuring real-time communication among event staff, security personnel, and on-duty technicians. This enabled coordinated dispatch across the entire area and strengthened on-site command and communication capabilities.
Moving forward, Lianyungang Mobile will continue to enhance local communication services, strengthen foundational network infrastructure, and improve its capability to support communications for major events.
