In remarks made during the
Meituan
first-quarter 2026 earnings conference call, CEO Wang Xing stated that as subsidies in the food delivery sector continue to be optimized, competition is gradually shifting to a stage focused on efficiency and user experience. Since the first quarter,
Meituan
has further solidified its leading position in the mid-to-high-value food delivery order market and continues to expand its advantage in unit economics (UE) compared to rival platforms. Assuming a rational competitive environment and combined with the seasonal peak effect in the second quarter, the company expects its food delivery UE for Q2 to be significantly better than that of Q1.
Wang Xing added, "We believe that with ongoing regulatory guidance, industry competition will gradually return to rationality. We are confident in maintaining our leading edge in operational efficiency to ensure long-term, solid competitiveness within the industry. We also believe our long-term UE will return to a reasonable level."
