At a nursing bed, competitors crouch low, gently patting backs and speaking softly, showcasing the warmth and professionalism of elderly care services. Before intricate power distribution cabinets, they wield voltage testers, competing in the meticulousness and safety protocols of electrical work. In front of steel frames with sparks flying, they don protective goggles, dueling with the focus and strength of welding... This was the scene at the Second Hulunbuir Vocational Skills Competition, held from June 6th to 7th.

A total of 202 skilled contestants from various institutions across Hulunbuir competed on the same platform, each demonstrating their unique expertise. Following rigorous evaluation by the judging panel, the competition awarded a total of 42 gold, silver, and bronze medals, along with 45 prizes for excellence. The top performers will represent Hulunbuir City in the upcoming Third Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Vocational Skills Competition.

Themed "Skills Illuminate the Future," this event was organized by the Hulunbuir Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau, with co-hosting by the Hulunbuir Employment Service Center and the Hulunbuir Entrepreneurship and Vocational Skills Evaluation Guidance Center, and assistance from Zhalantun Vocational College. The competition was precisely aligned with Hulunbuir's industrial development needs, featuring 14 contest categories including electrician, equipment inspection, renewable energy (wind and solar power direction), coal quality testing, UAV operation (plant protection), omnimedia operations, artificial intelligence engineering technology, information and communication network operation management, and elderly care nursing, covering key sectors such as high-end equipment manufacturing and public service.

At the elderly care competition site, 19 participants, including key personnel from senior care institutions and vocational college students, took part. "This event provides a platform for practitioners across the city's elderly care industry to compete and showcase their skills. We have learned advanced care concepts and practical techniques, and through the competition format, we can identify gaps and refine our own abilities," said contestant Tian Xin, Health Director of the Hulunbuir Social Welfare Institute, adding that the insights gained will be integrated into daily care and teaching work to continuously enhance skill levels.

"The renewable energy (wind and solar power direction) category primarily assesses participants' practical skills in engineering deployment and implementation, system operation and debugging, aiming to improve their understanding and flexible application of professional skills such as industry standards and specifications for renewable energy, system installation and deployment capabilities, programming and debugging skills, and maintenance testing abilities," explained Wang Chunmei, chief judge for that category. She noted that this category is grounded in the scale leap of Hulunbuir's wind power industry, focusing on evaluating participants' comprehensive vocational capabilities through designated tasks. The competition is seen as actively promoting the standardization and professionalization of industries within Hulunbuir.

Commitment to craftsmanship knows no bounds, and the time for skills to make a difference is now. "The human resources and social security department of Hulunbuir City will consistently advance the development of skilled talent, further cultivate a social atmosphere that values skills and respects master craftsmen, and provide solid talent support for industrial transformation, upgrading, and high-quality, full employment through competitions that promote learning, training, and career development," stated Xiao Guozhong, Party Secretary and Director of the Hulunbuir Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
