NIO Executive Yu Bin Highlights Growing Edge of Pure Electric Experience as Charging Infrastructure Expands

As charging infrastructure continues to improve, the advantages of the pure electric vehicle experience will become increasingly evident, according to remarks from a senior NIO executive.

Yu Bin, Vice President of NIO Inc. and head of product for the Onvo brand, recently shared his perspective on the ultimate outcome of the competition between pure electric and extended-range electric vehicles.

This follows earlier comments from William Li, founder, chairman, and CEO of NIO Inc., at a major automotive forum in Chongqing earlier this month. Li stated that the auto industry has entered the final and most intense phase of competition, with a particularly challenging market environment this year, especially in the domestic retail sector.

Li acknowledged that the industry is now in a phase of accelerated growth for pure electric vehicles, marking a turning point. He cited Norway as an example, where new energy vehicle penetration has reached 98%, and within that, 98% are pure electric vehicles, meaning approximately 96% of all new car sales are pure electric.

NIO Inc. believes this trend is irreversible and will only accelerate further.
