According to a statistical monitoring report on the "Program for the Development of Chinese Women (2021-2030)" for 2024 released by the National Bureau of Statistics on December 30, the gender ratio in higher education is essentially balanced. The reform and development of colleges and universities have been advanced by category, the layout of higher education has been optimized, and the plan to expand undergraduate enrollment in high-quality universities has been implemented in an orderly manner, effectively safeguarding women's right to receive higher education. In 2024, the gross enrollment rate in higher education reached 60.8%, an increase of 0.6 percentage points from 2023. Female students in higher education numbered 26.614 million, accounting for 50.8% of the total student population, indicating a largely balanced gender ratio. Among them, female postgraduate students totaled 2.048 million, representing 50.0% of all postgraduates. Female students in regular undergraduate programs and adult undergraduate programs numbered 19.433 million and 5.133 million, accounting for 49.9% and 54.5% of their respective student bodies.
